Driving Out of PDX

"Iron rusts from disuse; water loses its purity from stagnation... even so does inaction sap the vigor of the mind." -Leonardo DiVinci

Wooohooo! I have driven out of Portland towards Eastern Oregon. My trip begins.  I was delayed a bit due to the van putzing-out but I am now on the road.

I go on this trip with hope of cleansing my mind and body. Over the last year, I have grown in ways I never thought possible.  But this growth came at a sacrifice of my creative self. My new job only allowed limited vacation time and schedule flexibility. This was not enough to keep my creative spirit clean and healthy.
So, before I start another job, I am going on a solo adventure.  I am spending a month camping in our van, predominantly in Central and Eastern Oregon.  I have a loose schedule, mostly dictated by subjects that I would like to paint or bodies of water that I would like to fish, and trails to hike.

I am keeping this blog as a record of the trip, but also as a means to share my experience with you. The last time I travelled alone I had my dog Kobe-he kept me company. Since he is not around anymore, I have decided to talk to you'll as a way to prevent the solitude from turning ugly.

So welcome to my trip. I hope to create numerous paintings, catch some beautiful fish on waterways that I have never fished and hike some Oregon territory that I have never explored.  That is my plan, but stay tuned to see what really happens.
